AG Check

Remember! If you're an Access Grid toolkit user then you need the latest version (4.4.01) of RAT installed which can be found here http://mediatools.cs.ucl.ac.uk/nets/mmedia/wiki/RatDownload.
AG Check is an online audio and video assessment tool for the Access Grid. It allows users to assess the quality of their audio and video via a series of tests available through a web application. AG Check tests include:
- Audio reception
- Video reception
- Audio transmission
- Video transmission
- Ambient noise check
- Echo transmission check
- Network performance
The idea behind AG Check is to facilitate solo testing of AG equipment. This can be particularly useful:
- After equipment or configuration changes in your AG node
- Before important or high-profile meetings
- To support regular troubleshooting sessions at your site
- In preparation for QA tests
How to test
The service can be accessed on http://agcheck.ag.manchester.ac.uk and log in using your booking service username/password. If you have not registered with the AGSC, please see the AGSC Registration page. If you are a registered user, but are unsure about your username/password combination, please contact us.
If you're an Access Grid toolkit user then you need the latest version (4.4.01) of rat installed which can be found here http://mediatools.cs.ucl.ac.uk/nets/mmedia/wiki/RatDownload.
Once logged in you use your Access Grid software to enter the virtual venue listed, using the encryption key (AG Toolkit Encryption). As well as the venue name, the page also lists the venue address, audio port and video port (this is useful if you're using a manual bridge). When you have connected to the virtual venue, and entered the encryption key, please click on the "Next" button to continue.
Only one user can use the system at any one time, you'll be placed in a queue if somebody else is using the system. A countdown clock is shown on the screen. Please note that if a user leaves the queue or the user leaves the AG check system then you waiting time may be shorter.
Each check that you can access is listed, along with the current status of that check. If you have not yet taken the check, the status will be listed as "Pending". You can take the checks in any order. When you click on the "Take Test" button, or the "Redo Test" button, you will be taken to a page giving you instructions for the check.
When you are finished with AG Check, simply close your browser window. This will indicate to AG Check that you are no longer connected to the system, and shut down any checks in progress.
