Course Trials
Before running a new course in full, we always run a trial. This trial helps to assess the course materials, practical activities and timetable.
Although a number of spaces on these trials are set aside for invited subject experts, these courses are open to staff from JANET Primary connected sites. Places are available on a first come, first served basis, and limited to one delegate per organisation.
Attendance at these trials is FREE, however delegates should be aware that:
- The course may not run as smoothly as a full course (by its very nature this is an opportunity to see how things work in practice).
- All delegates will be expected to provide constructive verbal feedback at the end of the course.
- In addition to this, all delegates will be required to complete an anonymous but extensive feedback form.
We therefore reserve the right to refuse a booking on one of our course trials.
Curent trials:
IPv6 Fundamentals - Bristol, 18th August 2010
IPv6 is the new version of the Internet Protocol (IP), the common protocol underpinning all Internet communications. IPv6 will ultimately supersede the current version, IPv4, in order to accommodate the rapid growth of the Internet. The aim of this course is to provide a basic introduction to IPv6. This will include the evolution of IPv6, the differences between IPv6 and IPv4, and Ipv6 protocols. IPv6 address allocations are explained in the context of the JANET network, along with information on deployment of IPv6 , management and monitoring on IPv6 and concluding with an implementation case study.
Throughout the course, delegates are shown demonstrations, given practical exercises, and participate in group discussion.
