JANET Server Certificate Service

For customers using GlobalSign server certificates.

As of 11th December 2009, non-financial server certificates issued by Globalsign, through an agreement with JANET, will no longer be available*.

Eligible organisations wishing to be issued with new certficates, are invited to register for the new JANET Certificate Service, which offers a whole host of new features including a simple online interface, automated processing of certificate requests, along with the ability to monitor and manage new certificates.

*For customers who have already been issued with Globalsign certificates, these will continue to be valid until their normal expiry date.

Certificates that support financial transactions can still be obtained from Globalsign through their continuing agreement with JANET(UK) to provide a discount for servers with addresses in the .ac.uk domain. The cost of a certificate under this agreement is currently €130 (approximately £105) per certificate per year. These certificates can be used to secure credit card transactions.
